THE One-armed swordsman

4/5

Before

Destiny is upon us as the arms of the past grope into the present. The one-armed swordsman must find his way along the crooked paths of fate where nothing that happens is an accident. A brilliant cinematic piece, the snow scenes are unforgettable. Phenomenal acting. Every actor and actress pulls their weight to create an incredibly nuanced performance. This brings us to the plot. If you're a fan of epic kung fu fight scenes next to profound Chinese philosophy this film is for you. A swordsman fighting his way through the karmic loops of time.

Afterthoughts

I really enjoyed the scenes where the orphan girl talks about choosing the simple life- to marry a farmer rather than a martial artist- and the fact that he buys into it and doesn’t switch back to the martial arts world. He successfully gets himself out of it too. It’s a wholesome, classic theme, and extremely well executed.

The main character also has incredible style and coolness- doesn’t try and be flashy - sits down when people are trying to fight him.- Truly an awesome and badass aurora.
