This kung fu movie leads the viewer down the rabbit hole of impossibility. A dream like fantasy, rich with mythological elements and archetypal symbols; this fast past film will leave the audience wondering whether they missed the meaning entirely or if there was any meaning at all.

The word realistic doesn't come to mind when I am asked to describe any Kung for movie, however there is a spectrum on which most movies fall. On the one hand, there are historical pieces with fighting styles that somewhat resemble possible techniques. I'd put most Bruce Lee movies into this category. On the other hand, there are completely mythical interpretations of kung fu. Kung fu of flying, leaping, pressure points, and other fantastic techniques. Little Dragon Maiden, definitely belongs to this latter category.

And as far as fantasies go, this has to be one of the best. It belongs to a world of corrupt Taoist monks, lost fathers, women living in caves, toad styles and much more. As you slide into the mystique of this world, which is easy due to the gorgeous cinematography and lucid soundtrack, you will be left not knowing what to expect next. To all fans who want something exotic, fun, off the walls, I strongly recommend this movie.
